Hello Growers,

Today, I bring you a short video to show you my way of collecting pollen from a cannabis plant. You will find a bunch of different techniques on this topic, and there is no right or wrong way to do it. The most important thing will be preservation.

To isolate the male plant and collect the pollen, we will need a small grow box. This one measures 35 * 35 * 60 cm in height, but we are going to lay it down; you will understand why. We will also need a container and a light. We won’t need anything related to ventilation, as that could cause the pollen to scatter throughout your rooms. Of course, we will also need a plant.

Initially, I will completely bend the plant using super cropping so that it can fit into the box, which will be in a lying position. I will collect the first male flowers that have opened by gently tapping on them to make the pollen fall. We will then set up the plant with the container in the box with lights.

Here we are again, 24 hours later, and we can see that the plant has straightened up well and that more flowers have opened, so we are harvesting a second batch. As you can see, I simply tap on the plant to make the pollen fall into the container.

The most well-known technique is freezing; however, you will first need to dry your pollen for a maximum of 48 to 72 hours at 25°C and 30% humidity. It is important to know that male pollen has a very short shelf-life, generally no more than 3 months. The viability of the pollen will decrease over time, going from 95% to 0% during 3 months of storage in the freezer. Therefore, it should be used quickly.
