This video guides you through the process of decarboxylating cannabis in the oven, explaining the importance of this chemical reaction for cooking.
Hey friends and welcome to Pevgrow! Today we’re here to learn how to decarboxylate cannabis, so we can incorporate it into our recipes.
So, a quick lesson: What is decarboxylation? It’s the chemical reaction that happens when you heat cannabis to a certain temperature, which transforms non-psychoactive THCA into psychoactive THC. It’s thanks to this heat that cannabis releases its carboxyl group and thus becomes THC. For example, when you smoke a joint, decomposition happens on its own thanks to the heat from the combustion. However, to be able to use it in cooking, we’re going to need to put it in the oven.
To do this, you’ll need:
- A container
- A grinder
- Several grams of cannabis
- Aluminum foil
All right, so first we’re going to start by breaking up our cannabis herb. I’m going to speed things up a bit because otherwise it might take a little too long for you. Now, we’re going to fill the container and cover it with aluminum foil.
As for the cooking times, what I recommend is:
- Temperature: Between 110 and 116 degrees Celsius
- Duration: 40 to 45 minutes
So, let’s go with 43 minutes. All you have to do now is wait! We’ll catch up later.
And there you go, you’ll have your decarboxylated cannabis! I hope you enjoyed this video. Don’t forget to subscribe and like this video.
All right, bye!
