And hello Growers! Today, we have a short video to talk to you about the origin of Amnesia. I call it an old school variety. The exact origin of Amnesia remains a mystery. It was created in the early 1990s from a cross between Jamaican, Hawaiian, and Afghan strains. However, at the time, it did not receive much credit for it.
It was only when the genetics were transferred to Amsterdam that the strain was developed and began to become really popular. According to the story, its owner, a fertilizer company called Ipro, is said to have crossed Amnesia with Noble’s Age, thus creating what we know today as Amnesia.
At first, Ipro only made clones and regular seeds of this variety available, but due to its popularity, they decided to create a feminized version. To do this, they partnered with a Spanish seed bank, Dinafem. In exchange for their help, Dinafem received the genetics of the original Amnesia, as well as the right to use its name for their future work.
Shortly after, Dinafem marketed a feminized variety of the original Amnesia, which turned out to be more potent and more productive than the regular version. This allowed it to win several awards at the Cannabis Cup, thus becoming one of the most famous cannabis varieties.
The first to introduce these genetics under the name Amnesia were the guys from Ipro. They had a clone with a clear hazing influence, with a very pronounced flavor, a lot of resin, and the most cerebral effect you can imagine. This plant was second in the High Flight Club in 2002, and since then, it has continued to win cups.
Amnesia Haze is a very difficult cross, resulting from Afghan genetics and beautiful Jamaican Haze varieties, which provides an intense flavor and a high percentage of THC. One of the best options as a feminized version of this family is Amnesia Lemon, which has the same overwhelming effect and the same yield, but with a lemonade and citrus flavor. It is available in feminized seeds and is ideal for inexperienced growers.
