Stop crossing your fingers every time you germinate a seed or take a clone. Seeding & Cutting Soil Plagron is the professional substrate designed to turn fragile seedlings and unrooted cuttings into vigorous plants, ensuring the perfect balance of aeration and moisture from day one.

Why do your seedlings fail in other substrates?

Have you ever invested in premium genetics only to watch them sprout, stall, and turn yellow within a week? This usually happens because standard soil for cannabis is often too rich in nutrients (burning the young roots) or too coarse (suffocating them due to lack of oxygen).

The cost of a bad start is high: lost money on seeds, wasted time waiting for cuttings that never root, and the frustration of starting over. A weak root system in the first two weeks creates a permanent bottleneck for the plant's potential yield. If the roots struggle now, the harvest suffers later.

The solution is to provide a sterile, neutral, and physically perfect medium. Seeding & Cutting Soil Plagron eliminates these risks with a formula specifically calibrated to pamper the plant in its most critical phase, ensuring a high survival rate and stress-free development.

Quick spec sheet of Seeding & Cutting Soil

  • Brand: Plagron.
  • Type of product: Specific substrate for propagation.
  • Format: 25 Liters.
  • EC (Electrical Conductivity): 0.5 mS/cm (Low, to prevent burn).
  • pH: 5.3 - 6.4 (Optimal range for nutrient uptake).
  • Composition: White peat, black peat, sand.
  • Texture: Fine and uniform.

Key advantages over generic light mixes

While many growers try to start seeds in standard Light Mix, Plagron's specific formula offers distinct advantages for the first 14 days of life.

  • Zero Nutrient Burn: With an EC of just 0.5, it contains minimal nutrients, forcing the roots to stretch in search of food without the risk of chemical burn that occurs in "hotter" soils.
  • Superior Aeration: The addition of specific sand and the fine structure of the peat prevent compaction. This allows oxygen to reach the developing root hairs, which is crucial for cloning success.
  • Stable pH Buffer: It comes adjusted to a range of 5.3-6.4, meaning you don't have to worry about acidity blocking nutrient uptake during the sensitive seedling stage.
  • Uniform Humidity: It holds water well but drains excess quickly, preventing the dreaded "damping off" (fungal rot) that kills seedlings overnight.

Real benefits you’re going to notice

When you switch to a dedicated propagation soil, the first thing you'll notice is the speed. Seeds crack and lift off the soil faster because there is no physical resistance from heavy clumps. For cuttings, the time to see roots poking out of the pot can be reduced by several days compared to using peat pellets or rockwool if not managed correctly.

Additionally, you get consistency. Every pot dries out at the same rate, allowing you to water your whole tray evenly. This leads to a uniform canopy where no plant is left behind, setting the stage for a heavy, problem-free harvest.

Step-by-step usage guide for maximum success

  1. Fill the containers: Fill your small indoor and outdoor planters or seed trays with the soil. Do not pack it down tight; keep it fluffy to allow air in.
  2. Pre-moisten: Water the soil gently with water pH-adjusted to 6.0 until it is moist but not soaking wet. Let it sit for an hour.
  3. Planting: Place your seed about 5mm deep or insert your cutting (dipped in rooting hormone) into the soil.
  4. Environment: Maintain high humidity (70-80%) using a propagator dome. The soil should stay moist, but never waterlogged.
  5. Transplant: Once the leaves reach the edge of the pot or roots appear at the bottom, it's time to transplant to a richer grow soil like Plagron Growmix or Allmix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to add nutrients to this soil?

No, not initially. Seeding & Cutting Soil has enough nutrients for the first week or two of growth. After that, you should start adding a mild growth fertilizer or transplant to a richer soil.

Is this soil suitable for autoflowering seeds?

Yes, it is excellent for starting autos. However, since autos don't like being transplanted, you can fill a large pot with a stronger soil (like Allmix) and make a "nest" (a hole the size of a fist) filled with Seeding & Cutting Soil in the center. Plant the seed there. By the time the roots reach the stronger soil, the plant will be mature enough to handle it.

Can I use it for clones?

Absolutely. It is one of the best mediums for rooting clones because the sand content ensures the cut stem doesn't rot, while the peat keeps it hydrated.

How does it compare to Jiffy pellets?

Jiffy pellets are convenient, but they can sometimes constrict roots if the mesh doesn't degrade, or dry out too fast. This soil in a small pot offers more room for root expansion and a more stable moisture buffer.

Personal Experience of Pevgrow’s CEO (Alan)

I've stopped using generic "Light Mixes" for my expensive seeds years ago. There is nothing worse than popping a seed that cost 10 or 15 euros and watching it burn because the soil batch was slightly too hot. I use Seeding & Cutting Soil for the first 10 days of life, strictly.

My favorite method is using small 0.5L pots. The texture of this Plagron mix is super fine, almost like powder, which means the delicate taproot meets zero resistance. I've noticed my success rate with clones jumped to near 100% when I switched to this mix because it drains much better than pure peat. If you want to protect your investment, this is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
