Alcohol has always been combined with other drugs to enhance their effects, from ancient times to nowadays. The Egyptians mixed wine with Blue Lotus to induce altered states of consciousness and enhance sexuality. The Mayans used Balché, ancient Europeans combined beer with stramonium or poppy. And in more recent times we can provide examples that almost everyone knows, such as Absinthe or Mariani wine.
Today, very strong alcoholic beverages are still offered, even mixed with many herbs such as Jagermeister, but they do not contain other drugs in their composition. But that does not mean that people can’t combine them anymore, it’s still happening and quite a lot, especially the mixture we’re going to discuss today, Kratom and alcohol.😜👉
⭐ How are kratom and alcohol on their own ?
Kratom is both stimulating and sedative, depending on the dose it can provide energy or relax. Even sometimes the effect begins being very stimulating and ends up leaving you almost sedated, as is the case with some hybrid cannabis varieties. Also it can happen that the brain is very active, even euphoric, but the body is completely relaxed, it depends on the dose, the variety, the person and the moment.
Alcohol is a depressant of the central nervous system, and its effects also vary depending on many factors, the amount, tolerance, weight of the person, etc. It is the drug that directly causes the most deaths following tobacco, and the one that indirectly adds the most victims, especially in traffic accidents. An added problem of alcohol is that it is almost never consumed on its own, many times it is combined with caffeine, nicotine, opiates, cocaine or other substances, which multiply the dangers of this drug.
⛳ Interactions between alcohol and kratom
Mixing different drugs is not a good idea in any case, because although they can be enhanced in a pleasant synergy, in most cases it will cause conflicts between them, which can lead to serious health problems.
However, there are many people who report all kinds of experiences with this combination, positive, negative and neutral, and in the absence of studies that reliably determine the interactions produced between alcohol and kratom, these are our conclusions:
At low doses there seems to be no danger
As Paracelsus said in the 16th century “Everything is poison and nothing is poison, only the dose is poison” and so it is with this mixture. When kratom and alcohol are taken together at low doses, a slight mental stimulation is produced that improves the mood and even generates positivity. At a body level, relaxation and sensitivity grow, so the sensations are accentuated.
It seems that being cautious with the doses there is no potential danger, but sometimes it is complicated not to redose to go up a little, and gradually continue to do so until you exceed. But as I said before, not enough studies have been done to know the degree of danger when using these substances together.
At medium doses anything can happen
It is curious to discover how differently certain substances act on different people, and it could not be different with the cocktail we are discussing today. The only common point reported by users who have experimented with average doses of kratom and alcohol is sedation.
From there, very different effects are described, positive in some cases, with a high degree of intoxication, but very pleasant and relaxed. On the other hand, some users reported unpleasant toxicity, including vomiting, body discomfort, dizziness, nausea, sweating, etc.
It should also be noted that there are many types of alcoholic beverages and different varieties of kratom, and they all do not produce the same effects or are not of the same potency. Remember that distilled beverages are stronger than fermented ones, and red vein kratom causes more sedation than other strains.
At high doses always a bad choice
There is unanimity here, as with all drugs, if you abuse you end up badly. The consequences can be similar to those of an overdose, and you can even lose consciousness. The influence of alcohol is greater than that of kratom, but of course the combination of both multiplies the risk.
We have not yet experienced enough to know exactly the consequences of mixing alcohol and kratom in large quantities, but it is clear that they are not good, so we recommend not to do it.
✨ Common side effects caused by the combination of kratom and alcohol
Among the reports of people who have felt badly about mixing these two drugs in medium doses, we can observe a series of adverse effects that match, and may be due to a slight intoxication caused by a bad reaction:
- Sleepiness
- Increased urination
- Itching
- Constipation
- Dizziness
- Sweating
- Confusion
- Nausea
- Sedation
In contrast, in users who have combined these 2 substances in greater proportions, the reported side effects are more severe:
- Agitation
- Hypertension
- Tachycardia
- Convulsions
- Irritability
- Hallucinations
- Fainting
👌 Long-term use
There may be people in some areas of Asia who have been mixing alcohol and kratom for a long time. But in the West, kratom consumption has only recently become widespread and not enough years have passed to see the real consequences of taking this combination.
What we do know well are the consequences of drinking alcohol often for many years, and they are not exactly good. We assume that if you also add kratom to the equation, the result doesn’t have to be much better.
☕ How to mix alcohol and kratom in a safer way ?
In some online forums where they are familiar with both substances, they insist on maintaining a usage rule so that everyone can fully enjoy both substances. They call this rule KFC, right, like the fried chicken places that are in all the malls.
KFC in this case is the acronym that means kratom-food-cannabis, and that is that ingesting a certain amount of food between both drugs makes the effects come gradually, little by little, interacting those of one substance with those of the other.
📲 Alcohol to better preserve kratom tea
A normal kratom tea can last up to 5 days if you keep it in the fridge. But there is a way to prepare the tea so that it will last for several months, and that is by adding 10% high alcohol to the mixture.
Once the water has been reduced during the preparation of the kratom tea, it is time to add 10% of alcohol to the total weight. If you have 100 ml. (3.4 US fl.oz.) of liquid left, you will have to add about 10 ml. (0.34 US fl.oz.) of rum, vodka, gin, whisky or the alcoholic beverage of your choice.
📖 Conclusion
Combining different types of drugs multiplies the risks associated with their use, especially if they are drugs that interact negatively. With this article we do not want to encourage anyone to consume anything, we simply provide information with the aim of reducing the risks that some people decide to take. If you have liked it, share it to spread this information and let it reach those who need it.🤜😉
