Herbi's Living Soil Floragard is the definitive organic substrate that allows you to cultivate high-quality cannabis by adding absolutely nothing but water throughout the entire cycle. This 50-liter bag isn't just dirt; it is a biologically active ecosystem pre-loaded with slow-release organic nutrients, beneficial bacteria, and fungi designed to feed your plants on demand, guaranteeing the purest flavor and a hassle-free experience.

Are you overwhelmed by complex nutrient charts?

Let's be real: staring at a feeding schedule with ten different bottles, trying to calculate milliliters per liter while worrying about pH and EC, can be a total buzzkill. You often feel like you need a chemistry degree just to grow a plant, and the fear of mixing the wrong cocktail or causing nutrient lockout is always lurking in the back of your mind.

The consequences of this confusion are frustrating. You end up with burnt tips, deficiencies that you try to fix by adding more stuff (which makes it worse), and a final harvest that tastes harsh or metallic because of salt buildup. You spend a fortune on bottles you don't fully understand, and instead of enjoying the process, you're stressed out checking leaves for spots every morning.

The solution is Herbi's Living Soil Floragard. This substrate replaces the entire shelf of bottles. By mimicking nature's forest floor, it provides a buffet where the plant's roots take exactly what they need, when they need it. It turns the complex chemistry of cultivation into a simple, phase-based flow where your only job is to keep the soil moist and the environment right.

Phase 1: Preparing the ground

Before you even open the bag, you need to understand that "Living Soil" works differently than inert media like coco. The magic lies in the volume: the bigger the pot, the more stable the ecosystem. You aren't just feeding a plant; you are housing a microbial colony.

  • Choose the right container: For a full water-only cycle without top-dressing, use pots of at least 15 to 20 liters. Smaller pots may run out of steam before harvest.
  • Check your water source: Since you are relying on microbes, chlorine is your enemy. If you use tap water, let it sit for 24 hours or use a filter.
  • Select your genetics: This soil is powerful. While most feminized seeds love it, very sensitive sativas might need a lighter touch initially.
  • Prepare the environment: Ensure your temperature is between 20-25°C, as microbes are less active in the cold.

Phase 2: Setting up the product

Getting the soil into the pot seems obvious, but doing it right ensures the roots can explore the entire buffet immediately. You want to create a structure that holds water but breathes oxygen.

  1. Break it up: Pour the soil into a large bin or directly into your Indoor and Outdoor Planters. Break apart any large clumps formed during transport to ensure even aeration.
  2. Pre-moisten (Optional but recommended): Lightly spray the soil with water as you mix it. It should feel like a wrung-out sponge—damp, not soaking. This wakes up the biology before the roots even touch it.
  3. Fill the pot: Fill your container to the top, but do not pack it down tight. Gravity and water will settle it naturally.
  4. Create a nursery core: If you are planting a seedling directly, dig a small hole (size of a fist) in the center and fill it with a lighter substrate (like Light Mix). This prevents the young taproot from getting "nutrient burn" in its first week.

Phase 3: Use / growing step by step

Once your plant is in Herbi's Living Soil, your role shifts from "chemist" to "observer." Here is how to navigate the cycle.

  1. Start: Plant your seed or clone. Water sparingly around the stem, not the whole pot, to encourage roots to seek moisture.
  2. Vegetative Stage: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. You do not need to wait for the pot to be bone dry like in mineral growing; living soil likes to stay slightly moist (not swampy) to keep the microbes alive.
  3. The Stretch: As the plant grows rapidly, it will drink more. Ensure you are watering slowly so the water permeates the soil rather than running down the sides (channeling).
  4. Flowering: Watch the leaves. They should stay a healthy, deep green. If you see slight yellowing very late in flower, that's natural senescence (fade).
  5. What to avoid: Do not use pH Down products based on harsh acids if possible (organic citric acid is better), and never use mineral fertilizers, as they can kill the beneficial life in the soil.
  6. Harvest: No need to "flush" for two weeks since you haven't been feeding salts. Just give plain water until the end.

Phase 4: Closing, maintenance and learnings

After you chop your plant, don't throw this soil away! High-quality Soil For Cannabis like this improves with age if treated right. Remove the main root ball, but leave the fine roots—they become food for the next cycle.

For the next run, you might need to amend it with a bit of worm castings or dry organic amendments, but the base structure is often better than when it was new. Note down how much water the plants drank; usually, plants in living soil drink a bit less than in hydro because the soil holds moisture effectively.

Advantages of following this flow instead of improvising

  • Unmatched Flavor: The complex diet produces a terpene profile that mineral nutrients simply cannot mimic.
  • Self-Regulating: The plant takes Calcium when it needs Calcium, not when you force-feed it.
  • Time Saving: No mixing bottles, no checking EC. Just water and chill.
  • Error Proof: It is very difficult to burn your plants if you stick to water.
  • Eco-Friendly: No chemical runoff and you can reuse the soil.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need to check pH with Herbi's Living Soil?

Generally, no. The organic matter and microbial life act as a natural buffer, self-regulating the pH in the root zone. However, if your tap water is extremely hard (pH > 8.0) or very soft, it's worth checking and adjusting slightly using organic methods.

Can I use additives like boosters?

You don't need them, but if you want to push yields, you can use organic teas (Compost Tea) or specific organic boosters. Avoid chemical PK boosters as they will disrupt the soil balance.

Is 50L too much for one plant?

Not for Living Soil. In fact, 50L is a fantastic size for a massive, stress-free plant. If you have limited space, you can split this bag into two 25L pots or three 15L pots, but remember: more soil = more nutrient buffer.

Personal Experience of Pevgrow’s CEO (Alan)

"I used to be the guy with the laboratory in my grow room, measuring every milliliter. When I switched a tent to Herbi's Living Soil Floragard to test it, I was honestly nervous about 'doing nothing' but watering. The results shut me up. The plants were vigorous, but the real difference was the smell—it was deeper, more complex, and 'real'."

"My biggest tip: Don't let the soil dry out completely. In mineral growing, we are taught to let the pot get light as a feather. With Herbi's, if it gets bone dry, the microbes go dormant or die. Keep it consistently moist, like a forest floor under the leaves, and the soil will take care of the rest. It's the closest thing to autopilot growing I've found."
