Its genes come from 3 mainly indica plants with high medicinal character: Watermelon, OG Eddy Lepp and Pure Afgani. Pure Afghani is directly descended from the Mazar i Shariff region, where one of the best hash in the world is produced. OG Eddy Lepp achieved fame after winning second prize at the 2013 High Times Cannabis Cup, and is part of some famous strains such as the Watermelon Zkittlez or OZ Kush among others. What is the best way to grow Melon Vader indoors and outdoors?

The best thing is to put 16 plants/3x3ft (m2) in pots of 1.8 US gal (7 liters), it is a way of gaining time, since as I was saying before, the speed of growth is not its strong point, as it happens with many variety mostly indica. After about 15 days you can try to make a FIM pruning, so there will be a good amount of arms at a good height, something that improves the performance indoors. If you do it like this when it takes 20 days you can change the photoperiod to flowering perfectly.

In outdoor cultivation, if your idea is to achieve the highest possible production, it is necessary to germinate in early spring. During the vegetative growth period you can prune as many times as you want, and once it starts to flower the ideal is to remove the areas of the plant where light does not penetrate well. This is done to make better use of all your resources and reduce the chances of fungal attack.

In order to enjoy its taste to the maximum, I recommend you to use quality substrate and organic fertilizers, as well as a complete root wash, 1 week or 10 days before the harvest.

When do you harvest Melon Vader?

Indoors it can be cut with just 8 weeks of flowering, especially if you prefer the effect not to be too narcotic. In case you need the weed in a therapeutic way you can leave it up to 9 weeks, it will be more sedative and relaxing, perfect for sleeping peacefully.

If you grow outdoor in the northern hemisphere you will have to wait until first week of October, and for those who do in the southern hemisphere the harvest will come in early April.

How is the production of this plant?

You can reach up to 17.6 oz (500 grams)/3x3ft (m2) approximately in indoor cultivation, and outdoors a single Melon Vader can give you a harvest of about 21.2 oz (600 grams) dry. The resin production is exaggerated and its return in cannabis extractions must be very high. On the other hand, it also produces large quantities of essential oils, terpenes, terpenoids, flavonoids, etc.
