Panákeia, marijuana variety with CBG
Panakeia, marijuana variety with CBG

The Panakeia marijuana variety arises after a great work of investigation realized by the collaboration between Hemp Trading and Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. It is the first strain of medicinal cannabis rich in CBG, a cannabinoid not psychoactive but with therapeutic properties contained in this plant.

But the most interesting thing about Panakeia medicinal cannabis strain is its THC content, since it is less than 0.1%, or as if it had nothing. At a psychoactive level is not interesting, but in medicinal matters can make a difference. And the best of this genetics has to do with legal issues, because it could be grown without problems, even with less risk than most varieties of industrial hemp, since even varieties of hemp certified by the European Union in some cases exceed the limit of legal THC.

🧐 What is the CBG and which functions does it have?

Cannabigerol is a very special phytocannabinoid, as it has always been thought that it is actually a precursor rather than a cannabinoid. This is because the CBG in the plant is in its acid form, that is CBGA, and through an enzymatic action it is transformed into THCA, CBDA and CBCA. It is not a psychoactive component, but with very interesting medical uses.

So far, this molecule was found in very small proportions in most cannabis species. The great majority of commercial psychoactive varieties and industrial hemp contain only traces of CBG. But that has changed with the arrival of Panakeia plant, that is why this discovery made in Valencia is so important, since many beneficial properties of this molecule have been known for years, but it had hardly been possible to study..

What are the medicinal properties of Cannabigero?

  • Neuroprotector: Very effective to fight against some neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s disease.
  • It reduces intraocular pressure: It is highly effective to treat glaucoma.
  • Anticancerigene: It has been proven that CBG is very useful in slowing the development of some types of cancer such as colon cancer..
  • Anti-inflammatory: Reduces inflammation and pain caused by Crohn’s disease.
  • Antibiotio y Antibacterial: Mostly used topically, it eliminates skin infections.
  • Antispasmodic: Reduces and eliminates spasms in patients with epilepsy and other diseases.
  • Anti-Overactive Bladder: Reduces bladder contractions, helping to alleviate the discomfort created by overactive bladder disease.

🔥 How is Panakeia variety?

Apparently it is like the rest of cannabis varieties, with hybrid appearance and normal structure. The greatness of this plant cannot be seen with the naked eye, because like nice people, the important part is inside.

How is Panakeia cultivated indoors and outdoors?

In indoor because of its morphology it seems to be more suitable to use the SCROG technique, and it can be the best way to obtain a great performance with artificial light..

In outdoor cultivation you can germinate early, at the beginning of spring, to try to take advantage of as much sun as possible for the whole growth. It is preferable to give a lot of soil and hours of sun if we want to achieve maximum production, but be careful with fertilizers, Panakeia likes to eat well but without excesses..

When is Panakeia harvested?

It is a fairly early plant, probably because of its ancestry, as they are usually cut before the arrival of autumn. In indoor cultivation it will not take more than 8 weeks to bloom completely. Outdoor it is harvested in mid or late September in the northern hemisphere, and mid or late March if grown in the southern hemisphere

How much does Panakeia variety produce?

The production of medicinal buds is on the average of normal commercial varieties. The form of cultivation, the environment, and the grower’s hand can very much change the amount of cannabis harvested.

In indoor cultivation illuminated with HPS 600w it is possible to get 400 to 500 grams per square meter. Outdoors a single plant can give you more than 1 kilo, but as we said before, germinated soon, with lots of soil, and in a location where it receives maximum hours of direct sunshine.

⭐ What does the Panakeia plant taste like?

The taste is complex, as it mixes some genotypes that had not yet been used in the breeding of commercial varieties of marijuana. In a way, it reminds us of the weed we used to have, Landraces or exotic plants that you didn’t know how to define their taste very well but you said… This is great!

⛳ What effect does Panakeia have?

This is its most representative feature, since it is the first genetics in history that doesn’t get you high at all. Psychoactively it produces less activity than the varieties considered Pure CBD” since these can contain up to 1% of THC.

The best part is that you can benefit from the amount of medicinal properties contained in Cannabigerol without using anything. Panakeia is highly recommended for people who need to consume cannabis to treat Glaucoma, pain caused by inflammations of Crohn type, spasms, skin infections, etc.

☕ A short history of medical marijuana

For some years now, interest in medicinal cannabis has been growing at the same time as new applications are being discovered. In ancient times it was already used to treat certain diseases, the emperor Shen Nung included this plant in the first book of Chinese medicine, more than 4,500 years ago.

At the beginning of the twentieth century they could buy alcohol, ointments, and other products formulated with marijuana in all pharmacies. But this changed when modern medicine and synthetic fibers appeared, the plant was banned and it was almost no longer used for medical purposes.

Later cannabinoids were discovered, Israeli doctor Raphael Mechoulam decoded the most important, THC, and the door was opened to further investigation. In 1995 medical marijuana was approved in California and the demand began to grow exponentially, but mainly varieties with high THC and low levels of other cannabinoides.

The therapeutic value of CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN or THCV is increasing, the more we study them the more benefits we find. However, it was not until approximately 2010 that there began to be great interest in these molecules, coinciding with the expansion of Juanita la Lagrimosa and Cannatonic, the first commercial CBD rich varieties. Now, with the arrival of Panakeia cannabis genetics, it may come an explosion similar to the one we had with the CBD, we will have to be aware.

👌 Panakeia, the hope of a bright future

Panakeia is a pioneer in its category, it will remain in history as the first strain with high content of CBG created. But we are sure that it will only be the beginning of a new era in the cannabis culture, and soon we will see genetics rich in other cannabinoids which until now were minority.

In order to create varieties with high levels of CBD that we know today, we worked with plants that contained enough Cannabidiol. First the CBD Crew descendants of Juanita la Lagrimosa were used, which were later also crossed with industrial hemp. In those cases there were already interesting plants to set the high CBD feature, but to fix a high level of CBG there were no plants containing it, which explains its difficulty.

We are sure that Panakeia will give an impulse in the investigation to be able to commercialize seeds with a great percentage of CBC, CBN, THCV or CBDV among others. We can’t wait to try the new marijuana that will come in the near future, and you, do you feel like tasting varieties of the future?

Hello, do you have Panakeia to sell?
    Thank you

      Hello Juan!
We don’t have it available right now, but keep an eye out!

I would be interested in any of your hemp with under 3% THC, I would love if you could email me a list we’d like to get started before I can get the panakeia. Also is there anyway I could sign any registration to receive panakeia directly from you? I would love to start a satellite seed shop of your product exclusively. If that’s possible please let me know thanks all the best

We just got our families own business and hemp license, would you let us know if we can get some Panakeia seeds, too?

    • Avatar for Alan Martinez

      Hi Ben,

At the moment the Panakeia is not available for sale, some registrations are needed, before the summer I think it will be available for sale.

What we do have are registered hemp varieties with less than 0.3% THC guaranteed and 15% CBD. They are seeds with a registration number and a plant passport, so if you have a licence to grow hemp in the USA we could send them without any problem with customs.

      Thanks for trusting PEV Grow.
