Rye Mushbag

The Mushbag is a special bag to reproduce mycelium in a fast, safe and simple way. They contain an air filter, an inlet port for the spore syringe needle and 50 oz. (1,400 grams) of sterilized rye-based substrate.

Each Innervisions Mushbag can produce from 35 to 53 oz. (1,000-1,500 grams) of fresh magic mushrooms if we let them bear fruit. But it can also be used to remove pieces of colonized substrate that we can use to propagate the mycelium in other substrates, and thus optimize resources.

How to use Innervisions Mushbags

The operation is very simple, you just have to inoculate the spores through the entry port and wait for the mycelium to colonize the substrate. The spores do not come with the Mushbag, you can choose the spores you like, but make sure it is a reliable source and in this case we recommend you Innervisions ones.

Remember to work in an environment that is as sterile as possible, wear a mask or do not exhale directly into the Mushbag during inoculation, and to wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly. I will explain step by step the process of injecting spores into the substrate:

1. Disinfect the plastic or rubber port of the bag with an alcohol wipe
2. Shake the spore syringe well for 10 seconds and heat the tip of the needle until it is red-hot
3. Wait for the needle to cool down for 15 or 20 seconds 
4. Insert the syringe needle through the entry port into the substrate
5. Push the syringe plunger until you get the desired quantity of spores (if it gets clogged, pull out the needle a little bit while pushing the plunger)
6. Pull out the syringe slowly and cover the port with the sticker

How to incubate the Mushbags by Innervisions

Once we have inoculated the spores into the rye substrate we move on to the incubation stage. Just leave the bag with the filter open (make sure it is free) in a dark and hot place, around 80 ºF (27 ºC).

After a few days you will see how the bag starts to swell, do not worry, these are the symptoms of mycelium reproduction. From this moment you can shake the bag and carefully break up the solid lumps of substrate to speed up the process. The filter part of the bag is delicate, do not shake or squeeze too hard because it could break.

After 15 to 30 days all the substrate will be colonized, at this time you can use this mushbag to grow mushrooms (covering the top with vermiculite and closing the bag with clips) or transfer part of this substrate to colonize other breads.
